aside from having the right keyword and great content, put some funny gif's, or a 1 minute video, or perhaps a poll or question box. that way, your site visitor will spend longer time in your site. :)

Bounce rate is the enemy of every website — it’s the percentage of visitors that come to your page and don’t go to any others within the same site. Most bounce rate that you experience is related with your content quality. In other words, people don’t like your content, so they leave immediately upon visiting your blog.Your blog template can also affect your bounce rate. People generally don’t like staying on blogs that have bad or ugly design. We’ve all been to a site that was so slow that we gave up and just went somewhere else. Use this page load timer to test your page load.

We all want to get our site to the top of Google. But that’s only half the story – what happens when people click through to your site?
Do they hang around a while and check out what you have to offer – or quickly move on to the next result? Obviously we want the former to happen, so how can we make sure it does?
When visitors find nothing of interest on your site at first glance and leave immediately, this is known as a bounce.
A website with a high bounce rate from good quality traffic sources is an indicator that the website isn’t performing up to its visitors’ expectations.

If you have a high bounce rate I would take a look at the quality of the content on your site and start taking steps to improve that.

Take a step back and look at your content and ask yourself the question 'is this the most authorative and relevant piece of content on the topic?'

Take a look at what other sites are offering.

Then create the most authorative and relevant piece of content for the topic.

It's mainly the content of the site you need to focus on and improve if you want to lessen your site's bounce rate. Look at the keywords you're targeting as well and make sure that your able to reach out to your target market through them.

A good looking site that is easy to navigate and read increases user experience so make sure your site is professional and organized.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

A website’s bounce rate calculates the percentage of visitors that leave the site after only visiting the landing page. Bounce rate is a beautiful way to measure the quality of traffic coming to your website. In one tweet i have read that Matt Cutts said flat out (via second-hand news) that Google does not use Bounce Rate for ranking. If it is true that it is good news. But our goal is to convert as many visitors as possible and bring down the bounce rate. For reducing bounce rate, provide enough and useful content and update it regularly and investigate pages with high bounce rate so that you get the proper reason of its high bounce rate.

bounce rate high is caused by user not spending much time one your webpage, this might be several issues like the content or products in the webpage were not liked by the user or the website may not be user friendly and more over we need to target the quality traffic , i mean actual genuine user should use your services. if user spend more time then the bounce rate will be less .
