    Directory submission offsite activity is not dead, find the scenarios mentioned below wherein we go for directory submissions:

    1) if your websites in new and want backlinks then directory submission is first preferred method by SEO's.
    2) if you want gain high page rank for your website then people in search of high page rank directories for submission.

    Directory submission is still a good method of getting backlinks to your website. But do not rely solely on directory submission as a source of backlinks. That is where most make a mistake, relying on one method when there are other methods you can also do at the same time.

    No directory submission is the best activity for offpage seo but some of people says that all directory submission have nofollow links but it doesn't matter because google also gives the some weightage to nofollow link also.

    no its like that it can be possible that our link can be dead after 2 years but it doesn't mean that it is dead. it is very important tool in seo. but use very sharply & gentle.

    Just make sure you post on directories that are still indexed by Google.

    That is because there was a major deindexing that happened with directories just slightly before Google's Penguin Update.
