    i have read across the internet about the fact that link exchange does not bring backlinks but it is rather an articficial way of getting backlinks to your websitee. i ask now friends is it alright to do linkexchange.

    Yes it's legal, and even if it doesn't bring in a ton of back links it's still a way to generate targeted traffic to your website! :)

    It is legal but this might be possible that link exchange can be illegal to few part of the worls but if this will be the case so that is rare.

    I think link exchange is not good method as Google does not like and take action those website who do link exchange . You should get one way backlinks.

    yes, it is legal. you can do link building for your website but please keep in mind:
    back link site should be with below qualities otherwise google will drop your ranking.
    1. Good page rank
    2.Theme relative
    3. Not excessive link on page
    4. Unique content

    Link exchange is legal. There's nothing really wrong with it but it is not as effective as before. Google looks for relevance now on backlinks so they are more likely to disregard any link exchange.

    I think most people approved to do link exchange since their niche are in the same category. It's really good to have backlinks on relevant sites but google does not disregard links from none relevant sites.

    @OP, link exchange does clearly bring backlinks but if overdone, your site would be most likely be penalized. In my opinion, don't do it.
