youd be better to have your own server or vps a lot of host like dualrack limit the ressourse you can use . They claim been "unlimited bandwith" but you should be aware of all other limitation that are listed in the tos

But too start off with he may be better going with shared hosting so he isn't constantly running at a loss.

dualrack limit to 30 or 50 connections per site at a time. (I can't remember what the number was.) I would suggest one of their VPS rather than shared to be honest. Even just starting out. Their cheapest VPS isn't much more than their shared accounts for the extra you get.

 

Ive accidently come across a way to treble your adsense.

I was checking my adsense over the last week and noticed my clicks were rising but my traffic was steady..... very strange so i checked my sites and found them to be broke !

When submiting page for proxy the script did nothing, but stay on the index page, im then guessing my users were clicking the proxy adverts thrown up by adsense!

Anyway ive broke a few more sites now to see what will happen

Only 30 or 50 connections is not a lot ...
I saw that their vps are $8.99. only 4$ more then the shared hosting. I will give them a try. Thanks

There are alot of cheap VPS's out there some more reliable then others. Try Dmehosting.com or just google "Cheap linux VPS" Then google reviews on the company.

Anyway you should look at not spending more than $30-$40 your first month unless you have a lot of domains and the tools to promo them.

The dualrack VPS and dedicated are listed as out of stock to prevent fraudulent orders. If you open a ticket they will respond fairly quickly and setup everything even quicker.

And yes, limiting connections is a pain. I started with the shared and upgraded first day once I found out why my sites weren't available. They've helped me out heaps as I don't know much about servers and settings etc. I'd recommend them. Just not the shared for proxies.

 

Thanks for your review of Datashack I mean I have my own dedicated servers over at Datashack as I can manage them and whatnot on my own.

 

Yes with a ticket, they said they can give me one.

I just setup my vps and now my proxy is up and running. I just need to get people to go on it.

Hi group,

I was spending some time going through my proxies today, some of them were still on v1.2. The latest current version of glype is 1.4.1. I stumbled upon an undisclosed, or maybe just an unknown issue with hotlinking in v1.2.

In 1.2, it appears hotlinking in fact does work regardless of what you have set in the hotlinking item in your admin.

You can duplicate this in 1.2 by going to your apache access log files, copying a http link out of it, pasting it into your browser, and actually bring up the page your user is viewing. Upon upgrading to v1.4.1, this functionality ceased. This is a pretty big deal if you rely on adsense.

Again, I found no mention of it in the changelogs at glype forums.

The hotlinking problem is gone if you use unique url's, and v1.4.1 has an issue with gmail i.e. you can't login. That was posted about on proxy org forum but nothing's been done yet.

 

I'm wondering if it is best to downgrade to 1.3 although there doesn't appear to be an option to download any of the older versions anymore.
