Does amazon require affiliate to own website?

Discussion in 'Amazon' started by d-c-a, Jul 13, 2012.

I have several authors that I do an adshare with. The website is mine, and we usually do this using adsense.

But adsense is a pain at times, as some of my writers do not have their own websites, which makes it difficult for them to get an account (I know, there are work-a-rounds, but they take time).

Question - does amazon have that same requirement, or can writers sign up and be able to run ads without this hassle?

You require website to promote products listed on Amazon.com

The approval process is easy - so make website and apply.

Thank you Astral - do you know (or anybody) if I have an author page on my site, that lists four or five stories the writer has written, will they count that as 'their' blog? Or does it have to be a domain/site that they have registered in their name?

    Thanks again,

    Chris

When I signed up with Amazon Associates a YouTube channel making product reviews was enough to get me in.
However, there are websites out there that lets you put your Amazon tracking ID on the website if you provide traffic to it.

    (There are probably others.)

You don't necessarily need a website since you can promote Amazon products via Squidoo, Hubpages, and many of the other rev sharing sites; however, chances are that you'll do better with your own sites.

Set up a free blog with Blogger or Worpress and put some relevant content on it and then pass the URL address of the blog to Amazon when you apply - Simple :)

As part of the trial and error period I went through for Amazon product promotion I tried craigslist and I can say it was a waste of time and don't even bother with affiliate links via their site any longer. It may work for some other folk, but I don't really see how you can get much return from this particular source.

If you try to promote anything on Craigslist people will quickly flag your posts.

I used a Blogger Blog to start with Amazon - works just fine or use a free wordpress one - doesn't matter to start. Alot of people build squidoo pages as they allow promotion of Amazon products via their platform and you dont even need an Amazon account - you get paid thru them. You can drive traffic from US free ads to you free blogger blog then funnel your traffic that way. Check amazon TOS.

Amazon have changed the way applications are now approved. You will need a site before you're approved. The rules have now changed and they are very rigorous with their approval process.

    Good luck

For approval, you need to list a website, but after approval, you can drop your links pretty much anywhere. Thats my experience anyways.
