Google reducing rank for pages with iframes

I was woundering if anyone else has noticed this, I use to have many pages listed, however I have noticed that pages which ranked highly e.g. position 2-3 in which I have inserted an iframe linking to another domain have be removed on keyword searches from top ranking to lower ranking.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Do site rankings get penalised for using iframes linking to others, as this has happened on several pages. Does it count as a minus point in SEO for Google?

Google will not penalize a page using iframes, but frame is not a seo friendly design. You can use other techniques such as div to achieve that.

I never used iframes or any other types of frames there are a lot of alternatives out there for such code. I suggest you use it because usually pages within pages tends to not perform well in general SERPs.

    Thank You

thanks for you replies, can someone either point me in the right direction for an alternative or give me an example

    e.g.
    <iframe src="http://www.mydomain.com/page2.html" width="200" height="50"></iframe>

    thanks

Personally, I have I-Frames for some ads on my site, and I haven't noticed any adverse effects with G.

How can you conclude that its your iframe that affects your ranking?,
Check wether you linked to bad neighbourhood., or wether your competitors increased their inlinks for the target keyphrase., I use iframes on one of our sites which has alexa ranking of less than 1800., There is no change in rankings.,

If a site wants to start providing dynamic ads which appear on external sites is iframe a good idea? Read lots of negatives - would site owners want to paste iframe code onto their sites with so many unknowns?

Can google read the content of the iframe? For example if there is a link (in the iframe) to the site that is supplying the dynamic ad.

Is there an alternative, e.g. javascript that pulls information (image and links) from an external site and displays on page?

    Interested to know peoples views...
