    Is directory submission important for new website? If i do article submission, blog posting and forum posting for a new website. Does it generates traffic for a website.

    Yes, it is. But latest researches are showing that Google is throwing out of index many of those directories, so you I'd suggest you only adding your site into good ones, but good ones will probably ask you to pay for submission.

    You will normally only get traffic from the real big directories (I´m talking about the paid ones).

    It still helps to get backlinks and increase your serp, so It´s a good idea to do it, or let it be done.

    In fact, it´s a one time job, that can be done automatically, so do it if possible!

    As all said, directory submissions are important for you to get free One Way Links, but not traffic (only paid directories gets traffic). Submit your website only to the directories which are indexed by Google. Don't prefer Software Submissions.. do it manually (99% advisable).

    Writing Blog Posting can generate you quality traffic, but write it with unique informative post.., Forum posting also generates only traffic (Niche forums -quality and Other forums - non quality traffic).

    Ok guys I do get it that directory submissions are helpful and I need to do it manually. But can you shed some light on how to find really good directories for submissions. I want submit my site but I'm really having trouble finding great directories. I think this will help me a lot. Thanks in advance.

    In the beginning stage directory submission is very essential. But when you already have got good rank the its a just means to keep that rank constant. It just depends on the type of site. Whether new or already ranked good.

    Directory sumbission is a MUST TERM BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT NOT THOSE SPAMMY AND LINK FARM DIRECTORIES a good and quality directory can rank you well in google and hence you can gain traffic from search engines this way...
