I think it is still important to keep current iTrader (probably just last number) since it reflect reputation built within number of years on DP.

Now there is no any other measure to check reliability of DP user.

If a payment isn't setup for instant payment there is nothing we as buyers can do about that.

I really don't get this. Itrader is not just a reflection of a payment being made, a lot of the time it's a reflection of work or services being delivered. You're essentially saying all you care about is money changing hands and what happens after that is none of your business. I understand this logic as it's the principle of caveat emptor that you already employ, but what I don't understand is how you plan on having a successful trading/sales section when we have absolutely no ability now to judge an individual on anything other than how they pay or is that not something you're concerned about?

Dp is riddled with rogue sellers and scammers and since the staff take little action in these cases the only form on checking we have is through itrader, you are now planning to abolish this, essentially opening the gates for these guys to carry on unabated.

I still think it would be a good thing to keep the itrader or certainly some indication of the old system, not sure how it could be done, but anyway i dint visit DP as much as i did anyway so it does not really worry me all that much.

Not sure if I have posted in this thread but I still believe my opinion hasn't changed about this. I just started doing business here again and buying lots of stuff and I wouldn't like iTrader taken away ... why don't you leave the iTrader as is? I am not sure how the forums has outgrown it ... I still buy stuff from people depending on their iTrader. When I see that the seller has <100% positive iTrader, I do read their feedback to see if they are scammers or not ... I think it would be wise to leave it as is ... :(

The new system will allow positive or negative feedback still. That part just isn't in place currently. You are able to leave feedback for any transaction you participated in. You also get a lot more info in the new system vs. iTrader... you can see the dollar amount of any individual transaction, you can see if the user was involved in many disputes or refunds. There is a different feedback score as a buyer and as a seller (just because someone bought a lot of stuff for $1, it doesn't necessarily make them a good SELLER).

Once the feedback postion of Instant Pay is enabled, you are able to retroactively give feedback for any existing Instant Pay transaction (it will even give you a list of ones you have not given feedback for yet).

There are still a few things that have not been finalized yet... for example, I'm thinking about not allowing a seller to give a buyer negative feedback if the buyer actually paid. This would encourage buyers to give negative feedback if it was indeed deserved without the fear of retaliation from the seller. On the flip side, if a buyer doesn't pay for a winning bid/buy it now after xx days, the seller can leave them negative feedback without the buyer being able to give them one.

Well I wish iTraders would be visible in someway, but this thing is cool too and is safer for buyers and better looking for sellers.

    Is it only for Paypal?

Imploment a code system in iTrader.

There is a way that you can stop fake ratings through Itrade, just make it so for example, I sell a site and I want to put a rating for the buyer, for me to do that there should be a permission system like a code that he has to give me and then i enter the code and i am then allowed to put a rating, this way you can't have fake ratings, just put a code system in place that the only way to get the code is once the auction has ended both seller and buyer receive an email from DP with their code in it, and both codes are different only then can they leave a feedback.

    Is that possible?

This seems like an excellent idea to me :)

One time I left negative feedback on a seller (since they did not deliver as promised); the user retaliated and it hurt my score. Now, even if a negative rating is deserved, I am hesitant to leave any feedback, but am still compelled to do such to prevent the user from scamming others.

I like that! Sounds like a really good idea to me! I think if you guys really put an effort on this, you guys can turn DP into a really decent marketplace.

Shawn, I don't know much about you new system, but why do you think no one can fake it? If someone can make a refund he can fake it right? So is there really that big issue with faking how many friends may user have? up to 10? so if he fake himself you'll see that, also if he got 10 fake iTraders and than he not providing quality service he will get negative very quick, so is there really a need to change anything?

Totally agree with that. So some changes actually have to be made.

Also true! Shawn you can just exclude 10% of all iTraders on each account, I don't think there is more than 10% of fake iTraders possible, and if user have 10 or less iTraders just set it back to zero, but keep the bigger number.

Agreed, anything can be faked given enough effort... but if you make the effort great enough, it starts to become not even worth faking it. As far as refunds, since under the new system we actually know when a refund happened, we are also able to reverse any positive feedback given associated with that transaction. In addition, everyone can see how many refunds the seller has been involved with. If they have 12 transactions, and 10 of them were refunds, people can see that right away.

The new system looks amazing, great work.

    One questions though,

    1. If someone sells a site, then leave positive feedback for the buyer and say 20 days later we get a charge back on the sale, can we revise the feedback?

Does it not receive the information of the chargeback and show somewhere that a chargeback happened though?

Chargebacks are rolled into the "Disputes/Reversal" column on the above (basically a refund against the will of the seller). Not sure how useful it would be to break down chargebacks vs. disputes won by buyer. Internally we have the info, but it's starts to get more cluttered, and just not sure how useful the breakdown of actual chargebacks would be.

Probably not useful at all to display. Simply showing it in the Dispute/Reversal column should be plenty.
