When a bid is rejected, is it all the bids of that person? Say something like this happens:

Bidder A starts auction off at $10
    Bidder B max bids $150
Bidder C bumps it up to $70 with bidder B in the lead still
Bidder D puts it up to $100 but decides he can't afford more, bidder B in lead still
Bidder C returns and goes $200 max bid to take the lead

Bidder C later contacts the auction holder to cancel his bid as he can't afford it. There is less than a day left in the auction. If his bid gets rejected what will happen? I'm guessing it would go down to $100 or $101 (however that works) as bidder D's bid is not rejected, is that right? Sorry if it's a confusing question.

Rejecting a bid doesn't retroactively change other people's bids. If you want to reject bidder D's bid, you can do so... but it doesn't go back and alter what someone already bid.

Yeah, but if bidder D's bid gets rejected then what will the current bid be? Bidder B at $100, right? It wouldn't be bidder B at $150 would it? ...because if bidder D's last bid (that took the lead) gets rejected but the rest of his bids are left up (making bidder B lead at $150) then bidder B is paying more than he should be really...

Be a good idea to have an option to limit bidding to people with so many Itrader points so you dont get people signing up and being a "Wing Man" and bidding for a friend or something.

Yeah, I see a point here. This type of set up could lead to an exploit for the seller to get a higher price for their item, and possibly extract the maximum amount out of a bidder. If one bidder (a friend of the seller) keeps bidding until he goes over the limit and then pretends to tell the seller he can no longer buy it so the bid is rejected, the real bidder ends up having to pay more than he should.

Of course, this could happen with the older auction set up as well but it would be less obvious now I would think. Basically anyone could "help a friend" especially with the fact there are not really any rules for using the auction system.

Maybe it would be best (if it is not already like this) to at least make it so that it follows the BST ruling of 14 days/25 posts. Or, preferrably, make it something like 90 days after signing up (which really is not long), 50 posts, and 5 successful transactions. Obviously this may be a set back for some people but they still have the option to contact the seller in private to possibly work out a BIN deal if the seller is comfortable with doing so.

There are also a variety of additional features that could be considered as well. Not really using my creativity at the moment but some minor stuff such as PR domains/sites having a clickable link to proof of page rank, the monthly visitor info could also be made clickable to load up an Imageshack page with the screenshot, etc.

Either way, I like the additions that have been made recently to DP. At first it took some time to get used to the thread sorting setup but now I prefer it (from a buyers aspect at least, I have not offered my services in a while) as it is easier to find what I am looking for.

The auction setup is very intriguing as well and while it may just be a minor extra feature it could benefit in a variety of ways such as limiting the amount of people that just bid for the sake of bidding and possibly leading to some good deals (example: bidders use the auction tool instead of bidding, does not bump the thread in "New Posts" and then someone could snipe it and bid over him at the last minute and not have to worry about others possibly bidding over him. Unless a bid constitutes as a reason for the thread to be upped on the New Posts section.

Also, would there be a way for the seller to opt to adding an additional five minutes after each last bid if say there are still multiple bidders when the auction is about to end? Probably not as common here unless a crazy good deal would come along but it would still be a cool additional feature, even though it takes away from the ability to snipe good deals.

    I type too fast. :D

It's already on the to-do list.

As far as people shilling to run up an auction, it's already against the rules (it has been for a long time), and it garners an instant ban if anyone is caught doing it (people have been caught before), so...

This is taken into account now. The bid that triggered a separate auto-bid is tracked for each auto-bid now. If you delete an bid that is part of an auto-bid chain, everything that was part of the chain after the one you deleted will also be deleted.

The short version... if you reject a bid, it can reject auto-bids that were spawned from that bid.

P.S. - this is only for bids going forward (we weren't tracking it prior to now).

Hm..Why not allow the seller to link the BIN button to his payment processor?

So maybe I could link it to an E-junkie link to ensure automatic digital delivery, the link generated by DP would just make the buyer pay and everything else would be manual besides not everyone uses paypal. It would help in tracking of sales too. There could be a field asking the link for the BIN button during thread creation.

Also does the BIN button work only for Auctions or non-auctions too?

Also, one quick question...when there is a new bid or an auction closes, are there any updates to notify the person holding the auction? Maybe within the Settings tab there could be a small section to manage your auctions. Or, at least have it show up as one of the subscribed threads (even without a post) in your Settings tab...and maybe replace the [IMG] icon with something else, like a gavel (fits perfectly for an auction).

It's already on the to-do list (linking payments). As far as the BIN button, it currently only works for auctions (also on the to-do list to make it work for non-auctions).

Also already on the to-do list.
