Don't ever involved in buying links or traffic, it doesn't take you further.

thanks for the answers. The reason I brought it up is because people itt said something about buying fans/likes/traffic and I know a competitor of mine that does just that -

I created a FaceBook page because of all the feedback saying I really should create a Kings of Cardio FB page. So now I have the trifecta, I already had Twitter and Linked in. I am on a mission to increase my traffic and it looks like the next step is optimizing my blog and site for popular fitness equipment related search terms/words/phrases. With that said, I have such lengthy, unique, super relevant product descriptions laced keywords specific to my business. I would be surprised if there were numerous keywords I was not using. I assume my problem is that I am not using them optimally.

Thanks Nick - I got your PM and will respond in the near future. Regarding the social commentary on the blog, the truth is that I could create social commentary that would not be legitimate, but in reality I am not going to have a lot of people commenting on my posts unless I create user X and post a comment then user Y and so forth. Otherwise, I would literally need lose to 100x more traffic for the math to make it even possible for there to be regular social commentary on the blogs. Not may people go to the blog to begin with and out of those who do, there is a v v v v small % who actually take the time to comment.

Don't go for purchased like or followers. They will give you nothing except taking money. After going through your discussion, I think, it's better to take help from professional as all your efforts are going to nothing.

After all of the solid advice regarding the importance of creating a FaceBook page, I created 1. https://www.facebook.com/KingsOfCardio - how significant is the amount of likes? In other words, is the FB page for my company going to be meaningless if I do not have over 100 likes? Over 1,000 likes?

Exactly my point. My main suggestion is to create more viral content on your niche to attract visitors that comment and even share your content with their fans.

Really in the end, being successful in e-commerce is about building a brand and the fastest way to do this is to get a lot of readers that love your content/website. Right now you are looking at it all wrong. The content comes first then the traffic and social interactions, not the other way around.

I hope this helps and like I said in my PM I would be more than happy to help you out!

As of right now your on page 3 of GOOGLE WHICH ISN'T BAD. Especially since there are over 50,600,000 results. After looking at your site it appears it can use some on-site SEO as well as good Quality back links. You can do the SEO yourself or we do that on a 7 month basis typically, fairly reasonable considering the going rate. Hope it helps! (mysitelauncher.com)

There's also a really good course that has just been used by the people I get all of my knowledge and training from (Lynda.com). I learnt more from these people in a few months than I learnt in 3 years at University. They have just released a course on utilising the social networking aspects of marketing your site and the focus is on Twitter and Facebook, not just best practises but also on how to maximise your workflow with minimum input of time. I haven't done this particular course myself but I've checked the content and it looks like it's up to their usual high standard.

Other than that I think it's all been said really. You seem to be doing the right thing which is reaching out and asking for help instead of jumping in head first with an SEO company that could be ripping you off. There are some really amazing SEO guys out there, but a lot of the time you will have to sift through the rubbish to get to the really good ones.

    Hope this helps.

thanks a ton for the feedback Nick and of course what you said is true. However, my site is pretty content loaded. I have over 250 unique/relevant/informative blog posts and my product descriptions (treadmill / elliptical / home gym + more) are longer and more informative than the vast majority of my competitors. I really feel like my site would be a 'content farm' if I added any more product details.

I think one main problem is that the site does not respond well to Google searches for big time keywords like "treadmill" or "buy home gym" and I come up for less searched terms like my specific products such as "Life Fitness 95Ti" (treadmill) or "Precor EFX 556" (elliptical)

Ok let me put it to you like this. If I handed you a 5 page essay on the effects of a treadmill, would you want to read it? OF COURSE NOT, let alone share it with your friends. Now suppose I gave you the same info but in a eye-popping infographic that brought these statistics to life! Now we are talking not only about you taking a look, but actually telling your friends about it (creating natural links)!

How about a KingsofCardio 30 day fitness challenge to win a free treadmill? How about a dieting plan? Or maybe even a viral video about big gym blunders... this is content. A manual about your treadmill should be content on the product page, not on your blog. I am not talking about creating boring content to get one like, I am talking about creating viral content to get 25 likes... A DAY!

I hope this helps you understand what I mean. Building great content is how you get other people to build links for you (via sharing), instead of you having to go out daily and spam for links.

I think Borduhh pretty much nailed it. Your social interactions should not be about your website. Your are engaging socially to connect with people who share common interests and to share links to all kinds of interesting content, occasionally mentioning your own website, where appropriate. Nobody wants to follow someone who only talks about their own website. That's what the facebook fan page is for!

In many cases, being the website owner is a disadvantage on social networks. A company spokesperson, writer or pleased customer often is a much better advocate. I only know of one company that is providing what they call a "Market Mole" service for interacting with people socially on behalf of your website.

PR has nothing to do with content, try gaining natural links to your site.

Thanks Scotty Mack, I think it's weird but my best friend's name is Scotty as well. Anyways you got it! Social should integrate your website with interesting ideas that spark viral actions. If anyone needs a couple ideas heres an article I found over at SEOmoz about creating crazy viral content for a boring niche: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/companies-in-boring-niches-creating-great-content.

Buddy, no offense but how do you think you get those "natural links"? Content has everything to do with marketing and PR...

I also read that article about a month ago when it came out Borduhh and you are absolutely right - it is an excellent article and one that everyone should read - especially those people who can't figure out what to write about or who think their niche is hopeless, as far as writing interesting content is concerned.

Another very interesting article was published yesterday on searchenginewatch.com - 23-Point Litmus Test: Is It Truly Unique, Engaging & High Quality? It is a great measuring stick to use before you publish anything on your blog (or in a guest article). I must admit, though, that quite a few writers in the SEO advice world should take some of the suggestions to heart. Very little of what I read in the SEO world is anything but rehashed content.

I don't believe FB or twitter follow give you more milk, High PR doesn 't mean traffic, if you need traffics then just start one thing that I have done for many companies.

You have to start keyword research and make a list of low competitive in excel and then start to write on each topic because you are doing blogging, I have read above. Please start unique content on each target each keywords, you will see the dramatically traffics within few days, I sure, if not then you may PM for more detail, actually I come rarely on DP because I research, write and make pages for website only and then I start xml rss for static sites and after complete RSS, submit on all ping sites, update rss daily and submit them. After one month we don't have ping again and again, but update rss data in xml sheet so search engines get new updates on your website. This is my own research method, if anybody don't like then pardon me, but I do this for both purpose business and unique traffics regular.
