I took out the 'site' section in the comment template in my wordpress install. Now if I can just figure out how to code it to automatically not accept any comment that includes the 'site' value (because then I know it's a bot) I'll be in business
Akismet works well, I would also recommend adding a captcha to your contact form if you have one as I have seen a lot of spam coming through there from time to time. You can also install a plugin that will block all IPs from countries that love to spam such as India.
Akismet should do the job. As for those spammers who do it manually you can simply take GMF's advise for that matter because I'm sure even with askimet you'll be needing them. Spammers are also leveling up like us so they know that askimet will only block their spams so sometimes they just do it manually and even hire some other people to help them with it.
akismet is good! spammers will always be there. so you have to always delete those spam comments that gets through.
In blogging, spamming is common. You have to use something like akismet. Sometimes you may have to ban those spammers manually.
Akismet works, though sometimes would mistakenly ban some comments which are not spam. Anyway, if there are many spam come out, you can use it
its difficult to delete all the posts by spammers but you can do one thing that is make an action to the post reply. that action would be, dont submit the comment immediately but take it to review. while review just pass those comments which are relevant and not spam.
Why on earth would a spammer target a search engine on your blog?Let's start from the beginning. Several years ago Google pioneered a search technique called PageRank.and comment or blog spam and how to fight it.Like most blogs, the Wine Rambler is targeted by a spammers who aim to get as many links to their websites distributed across the Internet so that they can make more money from selling rubbish products.and Our Best Bar None product and service pledge assures that you’ll have the best products backed by exceptional service.
I also use blogspot.com, and find that very, very few spam comments actually make it to the post…akismet definitely does the job well!
As i used wordpress blog, i used akismat plugin for the same... sometime is Spammers spamming manually then not approved that all, i have block few countries also which i really don't wanted to target.... Cheers
