    Hi,

I have two dog sites that I am looking to set up a blog on and I want to allow comments but want to keep spam at bay.

Does anyone have any good experiences with any particular non commercial joomla blogging software?

    Cheers, Bruce

You can use MyBlog component or LyftenBloggie component. MyBlog is Paid extension and LyftenBloggie is free.

I have heard of LyftenBloggie before and it may be the way to go.

to webxprt - I know that in prnciple you can create a blog style page in joomla with the existing set up, but i have heard that it doesnt handle comments, spam filtering and a few other things too well.

I am still unsure if I will allow commenting as besides spam dont their URL sigs take link juice away from your site, rather than providing an seo benefit?

I just had a look at LyftenBloggie extension page and its got some very bad reviews. In fact very few positive things are said ... can it be that good - as I am not a developer nor have the skill or time to debugg apps ...

Easyblog or Myblog best for joomla, but as said earlier Joomla itself can be used as a blog without any additional extensions.

If you use Joomla 1.5, time to move one, because you won't get any update anymore. To blog, i would stick with Joomla itself, or go with K2. If you need one day to create a directory or a coupon system or whatever else, with k2 installed, you ll be already set. K2 is free and quite easy to customize !

I would like to recommend you to use wordpress for your blog and not joomla blog extension.
