You need to ask the original article author to give your permission to do so. As the content has been written by other person and hosted on his blog, it becomes a duplicate content if you post the same on your blog. So, no SEO benefits there.
First of all, ask the author of that blog and get permission. If he/she allows then you can. and you are writing the source at the end of the post this is very good. Otherwise Google would count it as copied content.
What about curation? Maybe take snippets and editorialize them. Give a link back and add your own unique content too. Just publishing their RSS feed probably won't do much for you.
If you simply copied their content it would considered duplicate content and Google would heavily punish you for this. So I wouldn't recommend it, I cant see why you cant write good quality content of your own. To do what you propose you would need to seek approval of the original content owner and I feel that its very unlikely that they would accept.
