Lots of rumors and speculation on the internet. It's the untruths that get around the fastest and foolish speculation that is acted upon the most.

No i personaly dont charge, lastly we were disscussing this with our team because we mostly recieve request from clients for changing in there submissions, we concluded that as long as the url is same no charges should be made.

We charge a little fee for RSS feed and deep links (to counter spam).
the rest are free, which includes website URL, social media links, etc.

If you want quality listings - you will keep site moderated. But now it depends if you want more or less traffic ... keep it free at first, later put some minimum price on - so you don't have to spend all your free time on editing old submissions. :)

I've just had my first link removal request and decided I am going to make a charge for it. The request was from somebody claiming to be the 'agent' of the company and the person who submitted the site. First I'll have to check it's the same person who submitted the site and secondly I'll have to seek verification from the site owner that this is true. As this will take a lot more time than approving the submission I think it's reasonable to make the same charge.

I still disagree, of recent removal requests i had one where i needed confirmation and asked for it and it was genuine and the person thanked me for being careful about the whole thing, then more recently i had one that so far i have heard nothing back from, the request did not seem genuine, i have requested various things and probably will hear nothing more about that one.

Both took a little time to look at and reply to but i still felt that it needed no charge at all, i still think that a web directory owner expecting payment for these removals are letting people down, its your job or your editors job to do this work, in general what are you owners actually doing if you feel the need to charge for this.

And if you added a site for free and they want it removed are you going to charge for that? Its crazy.

Setting yourselves up for more issues with google i think, i predict a new wave of penalisations, i can feel it coming and knowing how things go i bet loads will suffer again.

I bet none of you had previously stated in guidelines that you will charge for this, though i bet some of you now will quickly add this to your guidelines.

No I don't charge, I like my customers and don't mind spend 5-10mins to help them out.

    Thanks for your responses

I don't charge but wanted to know what other directory owners do. Seems like there is a mix of owners some who charge and some don't.

I will stick to not charging.

    Thanks

No we do not charge for removal or amendments. But I heard that some of the directory owners do charge for removal or changes.
