    You can marry by just paying the registry fees if your counter part feels happy. You can spend millions even. It depends on how you want to marry and how much you want to pay.

    I got married last month and it cost us £150 (British Pounds) for registry fees. Why spend thousands and start out married life in debt?

    Actually, it doesn't cost anything at all. Its just that people love to spend on marriage and celebrate it as a festival. :p

    Woman have been brain washed from a young age that they have to have their "special day". It's only gonna happen once in their life their mom tells them so they better make it count and do it exactly the way they want it, or they'll be sorry. Well how about this, a single day means very little in the grand scheme of things but that single day where you spend $20000, or $50000 or $100,000 even is going to effect you for many years unless you are already independently wealthy. Have a brunch or a small party with close friends and important relatives. Limit it to the bare minimum and if anyone complains tell them you don't want to be in debt for the rest of your life. If your soon to be wife doesn't like this maybe she's not the right person because you may end up hating her after the reality sets in. Spend $5000 or less on the wedding and instead put a down payment on a house or and take a nice vacation.

    I already told my gf that if we every get married this is how its gonna be and she agrees, but I know most woman aren't agreeable, so i say forget about them.
