Hey Guys.. Iwas reading about the Panda updates... the the ratio of sites that fell in rankings.. Some Google official says only 203 sites out 50 were effected by Penguin.. Rest were hit by panda Updates.

My site http://www.buildingangel.co.uk, targeting Google UK fell badly in rankings ! Why i don't know... I have no plagiarized content on my site. then why ?

Penguin is the code name of Google Algorithms and it's main target is de-indexed and de-ranked those site which is breaking Google Guidelines. I'm including some main features for de-ranked your site:

Using Black Hat SEO Techniques- Avoid Keyword Stuffing, cloaking, doorway pages, wrong meta tag, Hidden text etc.
Over Optimization - If you are creating quantity of back links not getting quality then your site may be under of spamming avoid over optimization. Only optimize your site in right sources of relevant of your site and keep mind quality not quantity.

That was the right response you gave, I think.

In my case, my site was barely over-optimized, if at all. I went so far as to significantly de-optimize just in case. Even took a lot of keywords out of my image tags ... words that really fit and belonged anyway. But I tried it, just to see.

And so my site dropped back one more entire page in a few days.

I've been doing test searches on Bing and Yahoo, and not for my site, but my trade in general, it looks like they are now providing better search results than Google when it comes to relevant content. Google in it's quest to try out their experiment, has actually become inferior to Bing and Yahoo.

It might be worth adding, when searching "redwoods" or "coast redwoods", my redwood page, for a couple of years steady, was in the first page of search results on Google. Today, I can't find it in the first several pages of results.

A professional redwood guide who recently retired, who also has a related website, told me my redwood page was by far and away the best coast redwood resource online. He did not just say the best, but "by far and away". Which is accurate. It's practically a nexus on coast redwoods.

So the more I watch Google changing stuff, the more I think they have something up their sleeve other than what they are telling people. Either that, or they seriously screwed up and are trying to cover their ass.

    @esdi123 is right.
Google said this refresh started rolling out on Friday, June 8th and has an impact of less than 1% of search queries in the U.S. and about 1% worldwide.

Too hard to try and please Google on a constant basis... just write for your visitors not the search engines.

Like you removed some words, I did so too... In fact I even removed a few Links I doubted. Still no good... I worked like hell last three weeks on the site and the rankings improved 50% not even equal to being at the same place, But At least I thought, it'll get back.. yesterday when I checked it was down again.. Really can't understand What's going On !

Google says 1%, You know that's not true.. every other person is crying about their site :S

Something was up with Google on June 8th. My website which is keyword targeted was ranking #1 for a few keywords. I was getting 15k UV per month. On June 8th I noticed my traffic wasn't like normal. The next day even less. 3 more days went by and my site wasn't ranking in the top 100 for all my keywords. Almost no traffic to my site. This site has no backlinks or any black hat SEO so there is no way I did anything wrong. The only change I made in the last month was adding 2 images to my main page.

In fear that somehow the images were effecting rankings I removed them. Just today I am getting my traffic back. My rankings are all the way back up. It was a hiccup in Google that caused my traffic to competely stop. As for the cause, I doubt it was actually the images but rather a re-index and Google had to rank my site again. My point is that if your rankings drop all of a sudden don't assume you have done something terrible. Give it at least 2 or 3 weeks with the changes before you resort to other methods because it could be a hiccup like I had, where my rankings dropped for a week and then returned.

I wish there was simple answer to all of this. However, a lot of sites which are following guidelines have also dropped off. I don't think not many people know the real answer to this apart from Google.

I'd say Google is flawed ! In their search for improvements, they've actually made the services worse!

They've got a lot of surprises under their sleeve. It seems like they are killing SEO to gain more revenues on their AdWords and AdSense.

I haven't read what others have written here just letting you know, here are my quick observations:

    1. Your website pages are not indexed or probably de-indexed. Check your robots.txt or webmaster tools for any signs, settings or notifications
    2. Majority of your backlinks are low quality and spammy, this could be the main reason why you've got flagged. Did you get a unnatural links message from Google?

Penguin / Panda does certainly seem to be affecting sites with "spammy" backlink profiles. Use the excellent ahrefs.com tool to assess your backlink profile. You are looking for a good range of backlink sources, and a good range of anchor text. If you have over 70% of incoming links with the same anchor text, well - that looks spammy.
