    Try pinging your site, this can catch the spiders attention. You can use an online ping tool like pingomatic or software like blog blaster.

    You can try Ping but everyday using ping is not good. Update website content daily if possible and change frequency in your xml.sitemap.

    Did you try google webmaster tools? I believe there in the dashboard you can change the crawl rate. Keep in mind if you crawl your site too heavily it can give an error message due to server overload.
