Hi guys, I've been using the keyword tracker for my new site (RewiredDS.com) and seem to be turning up on a few first-page results at MSN and Yahoo, but similar terms in Google show me as not even listed. I've checked manually and it's spot on...I'm just not listed! The site revolves around the Nintendo DS console and its games, so I've tried targetting the game titles themselves, and more generic stuff like "buy nintendo ds", but I'm getting nowhere. Check this out... "buy nintendo ds" - MSN 13, Google N/A "castlevania ds" - MSN 4, Google N/A "nintendo ds" - MSN 26, Google N/A "nintendo ds news" - MSN 13, Google N/A "nintendo ds release dates" - MSN 3, Google N/A Which is strange to me. The site has only been live since April 4th, but I *have* got listings in Google (1,200 pages or so) for it for other terms. Nothing that ranks very well, though. Am I jumping the gun, in expecting them to be listed within two months, or am I doing something wrong? Many thanks!
MSN is easy to rank with the co op network if thats what you are using. For larger terms google sees how fast the links to your website leave and devalues that.
Sandbox. You probably got too many links, too fast, and too unrelated? You are probably in the sandbox. I dont believe in these things, but its the best I could get for you: Check if you are in the Sandbox: http://roberttaft.com/no_filter.htm
You got it Dirkjan! "buy nintendo ds" without filters puts me 14th in the rankings. "castlevania ds" 17th "nintendo ds" 48th "nintendo ds news" 10th "nintendo ds release dates" 7th How do I get OUT of the sandbox? I've stopped all link building for the time being. I'm guessing I got in there by linking to my new site from 4,000+ pages of one of my other PR5 sites suddenly.
Could last 2 weeks, could last 3 months You should keep building your inbound links, in this time, so you come strong, when you are out of the sandbox. To learn more about the sandbox, try this : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&q=google+sandbox+explanation&btnG=Search GOod luck
Wait, Wait, Wait...of yeah, while your waiting you can: work on your site build up content work on other forms of marketing watch a lot of tv
If you are indeed in the sandbox, I would continue with your marketing efforts. In other words continue to link-build and continue adding content to your site. That way when you are free, you are that much stronger
