How does this site make money?

Making money but for how many time ? Megaupload is a good or bad example ?

 

Well they don't seem to be relying or even using adsense and it's a year old, so probably ok with ads. More importantly, it's a PR 4 site, has an Alexa ranking of 2,823 and has 76,088 Facebook likes. I'm pretty certain it's making more money than most sites...

They are also covering themselves well with their legal page.

 

Megaupload is illegal file sharing site...and it was not too long back when the govt shut down one of these sites.
There is no legit reason to have such a site other then to share illegal files/warez/songs, etc...and if you engage
in running a site where you do not own the content, then you will be a high risk candidate of being shut down....

 

I guess its possible; I have had a PR 3 site before that never did but a few $$$ / day.
I never been that low in Alexa, or have that many FB likes, but you and everyone else
is just guessing on what they or anyone makes unless they open their books...

I have heard of article directories getting 1m visitors a year, and not making but pennies on the dollar...

 

Who knows, maybe they are and maybe they're not. Just my opinion with some simple stats, that is all. Definitely getting lots of traffic and making more than most sites I'd say, considering that most sites on the web get hardly any traffic and make little to no money.

 

First of all, it appears that what they are doing is illegal, they are showing copyright protected TV shows and movies without proper licensing. Secondly, the site is using Adpremium ads, not on the home page, but in the secondary pages.Also, they are using mgid.com for traffic. However, to start a video site where you intentionally infringe copyrights of movie companies is a felony. So try to stay away from it.

 

Try to promote it on Youtube and Facebook, this will help you get views,
or post on blogs. Good luck.

Other than ads I think You can a Premium Paid Community Access with Top Contributors Answering Peoples Questions and you may even share revenue with the Top Contributors

 

Maybe the ads are contained within the videos.

I would recommend niche related banners only. So if's a dating site, promote some high epc dating banners not e.g camping equipment. Putting banner placements as well as choosing the best way to monetize a site (cpa, adsense, amazon etc) requires some planning to maximize profits

There are ads around the website which is paid banner. And when you load those video , before it buffer ,it show lot of ads as well.
I believe that is where they earn money.

 

Many forums like this one use ads. I do know that some forums take donations instead, though these seem few now then they did before.

 

I cannot see why you are worried about how other websites makes money,i would leave that website owner to worry about that !!! unless you have some connect with this site direct or indirect.But it does sound rather odd to me,very much like some people just start a new thread saying i have just found a brand new site its totally fantastic take a look and it ends up they own it.I am not saying this is the case here but it does happen alot.
