Is there some sort of system that will track all of your backlinks if you manually entered them into a series of spots? Since backlinking is such a popular method of SEO it would seem that there would be some kind of tracking. It seems that if there isn't some system to track it then one would keep track of the links and check them every six months. It is time consuming but more so to have to guess what you need to enable again so that your SEO stays tight.

This question is kind of related to many topics, but I will post it here.

I launched a review/information website about a week and some days ago. In the past 4-5 days I've been link building(exchanging links), onpage SEO, search engine submitting, doing a few posts here and there with my website signature and even made my own squidoo page where I left my website link http://www.squidoo.com/sport-and-muscle-memory . The point is that when I try to search for websites linking to me, I get 0 results. I use the ussual google search "link:mywebsite url" formula.

Any ideas if I am doing something wrong or is just that I need to wait some time for these things to take effect? Stil new in these waters and even though I read a lot how and what to do, I have no experience how these things actually work out.

It's an inconvenience but many backlinks get removed for a variety of reasons, sometimes the search engines are not reporting all the backlinks, or the admin just removes it

The link you have posted can be deleted by the moderator of that website. So that the link you have posted on the website is not permanent.

For making your link permanent you have to actively work on that website at where you have posted the link for which website you have to roll up.

Wait, we can speculate forever about what could have happened to your backlinks. But I think you shoudl tell us two important things:

    - Which way did you "create" those backlinks?
    - What tool are you using to check them?

It could be that your links are in place but the tool i not showing them. Did you check them manually?

Website owners have the control, and they can remove your link whenever they like! Unfortunately that's all part of the SEO game.. a never ending link building exercise!

We can't give a precise answer unless we know where the backlink was built.

Back links are not permanent. Website owner delete back links after some time but some website owner give you permanent link.

The quality backlinks with good PR sites often suffer as the host site constantly changes and drops a few links here and there. The solution for this might be to keep a constant check and maintenance if possible.
