how to find best websites for marketing?

To succeed in the internet marketing it is necessary to have links to your website from many places.
There are thousands websites where you can submit your link but most of them have nearly 10 visitors a day and only some has some decent traffic.
My question is, how to find major websites in the desired niche?

I tried using web directories to collect a list of relevant websites to my niche but 99% of them are so small and without updates.
Google search results also have a lot of dead sites and it takes so much time to filter good from bad ones.

I like Alexa rankings but Alexa provides top of all sites but I would like to find only sites relevant to my niche.

How to find those sites with minimum efforts that are frequently updated and popular among users? What is your favorite way to find those websites?

I suggest you do your research at Twitter. There are a lot of good marketers there that you could reach out for help.

Why not write an article for them, in exchange for your link in the post

I think you can find a big forum in your niche. Some members on the forum may discuss and recommend some great websites in the niche. Be more patient. You will gradually find those sites.

You had mentioned that you need updated and big websites for link building. You can definitely Google it. You can Google like this "list of high PR web design blogs" "list of high pr web design forums" "list of web design sites" etc. You can also use this search query allintitle: high pr web design blogs. This search query is really good one. Best of luck !

thanks for the tips! my niche doesn't have a list of high pr sites in google results because it is too small but I think I can use your technique to find websites in adjacent niche and use it in my favor somehow.

However you look at it, craigslist and backpage are the best ones for doing business at this point.

Really tough job to find some good websites with very good traffic in own niche. I have not yet get any short cut for them. Using social book marking sites, you can get some results, but you have to invest your time to select few good sites. Eagerly looking for others suggestion.
