Hi, Has anyone here developed a flash game and or mobile phone app? The reason I am asking is because I am in the process of having a *VERY* unique game built and wanted to ask advice on the best way to make money from it. My plan is to buy the same domain name as the games name and build a website that allows players to play online for free and allow them to buy upgrades and extra features for very small amounts of money like USD$0.10 each via a payment gateway. The free mobile app versions should also drive traffic to the website. Both online and mobile versions will be linked to facebook and twitter. Has anyone here tried this before? Or is it better to build a free lite version and then offer a full paid version for say USD$0.99 ?

I think you have mis-understood me. I already have a developer making the game.... I am asking about how to make money from an app?
I made a flash based MMORPG in the past. Here are some ideas: 1) Keep the game free until you have a decent-sized community. Then make it paid only. Make sure to use a company like TrialPay for those who can't pay online. 2) If the game has a storyline, consider making the game free until a certain point. Find a point in your storyline when the user knows something exciting is about to happen, and put the paywall RIGHT BEFORE the exciting event. Unfortunately, my game could never get enough hype to do either
Both..... Website with Flash game plus Android and IOS mobile apps to drive traffic to the website where I hope to make some money.
Hi xtmx, Thank you for your reply. I think your 2 suggestion is the best but I was thinking maybe ease the money out by selling small up-grades for say $0.10each and there will be 10 upgrades to buy as the game progresses. The players can still play the whole game without the upgrades but it will be less fun and theire opponent will have the advantage. Even if most players only get half way through the game they would have spent $0.50. Could this formula work?
