    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

16,000 impressions in ONE DAY, but only $30 made. What the hell is going wrong!

The problem is like people have said above, don't use image ads. Not only are people becoming more ad blind to them, the CPC is generally a lot lower. Try out text ads and tell us how that goes for you.

What makes you to think this? You talking without any relations to anything.
For the OPS fellow, I got few tips:
    1. Use image/text ads, since there is more ads competition then, and andsense is tend to show an ad with the highest cpc.
    2. Make your images the same format like your ads, if your ads are 336x280, make your website images the same size and put an image ad only on the left side of the post, and your post image below it also on the left.

This is simply not true. It is widely known that image ads have higher CPC and lower CTR, and text ads are opposite to that.

I see that you have ads other than adsense as well. That will certainly reduce the CTR.

Wrong. You should leave it as default as Google will optimize display for you.

Just a couple of questions that might help.
Are you tracking CTR's for each Ad unit - to see which ones perform best? (for example above the fold?)
What is your visitor bounce rate, how long do people stay on your site and what are they looking at or reading to keep them there.

Measuring, split-testing and gradual improvements are the most reliable way to improve perfomance and income.

Alright, some people will say try text ads. Others will say try image ads. Some will tell you that this market is probably way too used to ads.

    The solution?
    1. Try contextual text ads and see what type of offers are coming up. If it is related to the game, you'll probably get a lot of clicks. If not, then look for other ads to display (Look for Adsense alternatives or ditch Adsense altogether).
    2. Try promoting different offers other than Adsense. (since this is the game market, you should know that they convert better with CPAs or offers that catches their attention and encourage them to click. )
    3. Test, test and test again. You can try using images when promoting other offers. They can work and there is no golden rule that text work better than images or the other way around. It depends on the website and the market so do your own testing.

    Hope that helps.

Use the text and image ad setting on all your block ads, never stick with text only or image only, use the text and image option.

I think it probably has to do with the target public, it really depends on your visitors quality, if they get there just by publicity or are non-site-oriented they wont click a thing. What´s your site bounce rate?

Im having a similar issue, if you sort it out please let me know.

My CTR is 0.5-0.75% but the CPC wildly ranges from 1p - 120p. I'm getting about £2 per 1000 impressions.
I've even created a custom channel but it didn't change much.

The only thing i'm doing is serving only image ads, as was under the impression that text ads just dont get clicked - and they look pants, does any one have any proven stats to show an increase in CTR from text over image?

    cheers.

I'm in the Gaming Niche and can say that unfortunately we have one of the lowest CPC rates around with adsense due to very high competition.

Your CTR could be improved and might help increase your current earnings though, I would try and at least get it above 1%. This will only happen from testing different ad sizes and locations. Have you tried a 160x600 on the right column instead of the big square? The squares ads inside your content look too big and stand out too much, try changing these to the slightly smaller square and/or to a text ad instead.
