Blog commenting Black Hat ?

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by chamonixfirst, May 11, 2012.

    Hi all,
Just to set the record straight....
Is blog commenting classified as black hat?

I have done some looking on-line and some people say it is while others say its completely fine.

I cant understand why if I comment on a blog and leave my link where it asks you too, and its a legitimate comment it may be classed as black hat

    Many thanks

It depends, it can be both white and black dependant on how you go about it.

If you're making relevant comments on niche related blogs, it would be considered white when done in moderation.

It is not black hat if you are contributing to the blog! You can see lots of bloggers are commenting on each other's blog for promoting their blog but they do quality and relevant works.

Blog commenting is white hat if you are adding value to the post. Don't post stuff like "Nice site, check out my link blah blah blah" that is considered bad backlinking. Your comment will probably be removed by the site owner if you post stuff like that. Actually read through the post and make relevant comments.

You should have relevant comments to the topic of the post then it will not be black hat! Do not spam to avoid your comment to be removed.

It depends - if you're genuinely taking part in a community and discussion, then referencing a relevant post that happens to be yours might be OK, as long as it pertains to an actual discussion. But blog commenting for the sake of a link is spam (black or whatever colour hat you want to call it).

No, it's not exactly called black hat techniques. If you're using any techniques to only getting a link through a general way 'awesome post, woooww! liiks very nice etc etc....' this way we can consider as a spammy links.

Blog commenting is white hat but it will be considered spamming if you will comment without reading the blog.
