What makes a good movie?

It's been awhile since I've been in here to have a discussion, hm.

Anyway, as we come from different backgrounds with different frames of references, we determine differently what or what doesn't make a good film.

In my opinion, some key factors to look at happen to be originality, as one. There are different types of genres that films can fall under and if a film is able to add something new or twist the elements that genres describe for us, then that is what makes a film original in my opinion. A film should also offer some sort of complexity in order to keep an audience's attention. The film should have a plot that has depth and developement. Of course there are films that we can simply enjoy as well, but I personally enjoy the ones where I can theorize things only to figure out truths at the end! I think the last major factor a good film has is nice cinematography. I believe a movie's images should contribute to the story usually.

 

What makes a good movie? A good movie depend on the type of story, the artists who portray each role and give justice to the characters of the story and if the audience can get something from it, like moral lessons, etc.

 

I personally believe a good movie is when the story line is in tact and it keeps the viewers able to pay attention without losing it. Good movies can be in different genre it does not matter as long as it catches the viewers attention and give them the unexpected. That would be a bonus. Obviously we cannot please everyone but if certain type should be created, it has to be like what Sadielois said, having moral lesson or inspirational attributes to it.

Main Actress should be so attractive and the movie scenes should be very awesome.

 

There should be some bad guys, who want to take over the world, and a good guy with the face of Bruce Willis, who will stop them.

 

Clint Eastwood makes the best movies.

 

The movie give something new and it can touch the heart and make us talk or think about it.

 

i think some good movies depends on general effect, unusual story (with the moral of life inside), and character building by the actor/actress

 

The story (of course), the actors and actress, the song..

 

A good producer, a great idea and professional actors.

 

How relatable the story is.

 

a movie with original and quality script, good actors

 

Character development, interesting story, and thematic imagery.

 

a good director

 

A good start and a good ending, that is how I rate a good movie.

The story, the actress/artists and ofc their good playing and attitute. I like movies based on a true stories
