Selling Large Technology Site

Error in the above post, the content IS unique to this site!

I would like to sell my site with all its content (blog and forum) and its IP.Board License which expires in a few months. This comes with the domain as well as the domain techgeeks-online.com, which was used for about two years before switching the name of the site.

    Google Analytics:

    AdSense:

The new Google Update this month drastically reduced my traffic, as well as the traffic of many other sites (as I'm sure you're aware). I sent in a Google Reconsideration request and got a reply that there was no action manually taken against my site so everything was algorithmic. I also sent in a complaint to Google. I don't know what will happen with future updates, but I think the site is 100% whitehat (check it out for yourself).

I removed the ads from the blog (aka article repository), which were the highest performing. I thought that may increase my traffic, but it didn't really. The AdSense ads are still off the site. If I'm going to earn $5 per day max they might as well be.

Any questions? Did I miss anything? Let me know and I'll answer ASAP!

That Adsense could be for anything. Can you run the report off by site rather than channels?

How many articles are there and how far back does it go?

Oh that's smart! I should've used the "Sites" rather than a custom channel :)

There are currently 192 blog posts and the oldest one was published on 2009/11/23 (a few were published on that day since that was the day I transferred all ym content from my own custom CMS on TechGeeks-Online.com to a WordPress.

Thanks, mate. Looking through the site and also the backlinks to see if I can figure out if I could fix the traffic drop or not.

Alright, and if you find some issue but decide not to buy, could you let me know what the problem is so I could fix it?

I just don't understand it, and I posted on Google's Webmaster Forum but they never got back with any problems either. I regularly search my site for terms like "Viagra" to see if any spam slipped through, and all the content is unique and quality. I also make sure I don't link out to poor sites. I've been busy over the last two months and I haven't really built new backinks or written new content.

I suspect it MAY be something with the internal linking because I just updated IP.Board to their newest version, but then again a lot of sites dropped traffic after this big update.

What's sad is I still see myself ranking for my top keyword, so I don't know why the traffic dropped.

Anyway, if you find a problem and decide not to buy, please let me know. I think this auction is set to end in seven days.

Depending on how you're checking, you might see yourself ranking due to personal web search (for example), but I assume for a site like yours it's a lot of small keywords that as a whole bring a fair bit of traffic.

I checked your backlinks and there seemed to be a few organic, but also a lot of blog comment ones, which could be a factor. Penguin was about on-page, so it means your own on-site, but also the on-site of where your links are (that site/page gets devalued and has a knock-on effect to anywhere it's linking to).

Also, your theme is generic (thesis), no branding. Unlike your forum; it looks much nicer and with a nice logo. (I don't know if the template is generic, but it looks nice and goes well with the logo.)

I think your posts didn't have the date on them.

Depending upon the keywords, some content might have been pushed down as there's a bigger focus on fresh content.

I don't understand why the blog posts aren't on your front page? I go into the categories and there are no excerpts for the posts. There's a description of the category (an old SEO trick), but who cares? I know what I clicked on and would rather see a post snippet.

Those are the things I see wrong.

I think that my offer would insult you (but it's just what I see the site as worth due to the earnings plus traffic drop-off and level of link-building campaign/time required), so I won't make one.

Instead, I hope you manage to fix it; don't give up yet. To get your ad-layout good and not face a penalty, read this article (which includes a link to a good Google tool):

Not to sound rude, but your site hit by Penguin and still putting an exorbitant price?

PM me, really interested to know if you had some reasonable offer for me.

I honestly wouldn't sell for $2500 even though that's the starting bid :/

I just feel like my site isn't blackhat and has never been blackhat, and I truly believe that Google made a mistake with this algorithm. I know they've been getting complaints and I think their next big algorithmic change will allow my site to go back up in rankings.

I'd rather not sell than sell super cheap :)
