My CTR has been extremely bad, less than 0.5%. Can anyone suggest good methods? Here is my link: http://www.engmatl.com/

You need to put ads into your posts and they don't have to blend always. I could barely find your ads lol

After tweaking & filtering, I went up to 2% on my site now "www.engmatl.com" I have learned 2 very important points to increase the CTR.
    1. Study of people reading is like this -- Read from Top left to right side & then downwards. So the Good ads placement would be Top left / center, then in the middle (this may not always possible). Next best placement would be right side..
    2. Filtering the ads to match with the content. If your site says about Engineering & technology (like mine), people won't click on games & health ads etc. (mostly). So filter the ads which are not relevant to your content.

Best is about 0.3%. Worst about 0.01%. You get used to it.

If I had 40% CTR I'd be making thousands a day I reckon.

Average CTR on my best would be around 3%. I don't think that Adblock tools are doing good to our incomes these days if you compare it with the date this topic has been started (2006).

On info-links I get around 2% on Google average is 0.4% but info-links doesn't pay much per click.

..also bollocks, and obviously never used adsense. It's not something you count manually..

I have one site at about 20% CTR, but for the most part it is a little above 5% and unfortunately some I can't reach 5% most days..

    That's much higher than mine ... :(
I wonder if it really depends on the topic of one's blog.
