May I know which site should I go to check my site ranking and popularity and if better, analyze the things that I am lacking to boost the popularity and ranking. I am adding unique content into my site but I do not know which site is the best to check my site stats.

You can evaluate your website's popularity by analyzing it's analytics and to look what type of traffic your site has and how much. To check your website ranking I would basically advise you to not to use online tool unless you have hundreds of keywords.

The best and market leader is Alexa. You can check your audience growth ,visitor pattern, country specific and world wide ranking(Alexa ranking). Also you can compare your website against your competitors website.

This question is a bit unclear as to whether you are trying to measure your own traffic or compare it to others.

If you are trying to measure your own traffic, I would definitely install Google Analytics if you haven't already. They are the market leader and it's free. Basically you will put a piece of code on your site and they will know every time that code is hit.

Sites such as alexa.com and compete.com don't have a code on your site (unless you put one there), so they are only guessing about your traffic. These sites are useful for comparing your sites to others. They are also guessing about your competitors, but because you don't have access to a competitor's site, these guesses are the best you can get.

When it comes to your own traffic though, Google Analytics is definitely the way to go. They will provide you with TONS of information: the location of your visitors, how people came to your site, what keywords in Google drove visits, how long people stayed on a page, what page they visited after page X and so so much more.

If you want to know how you ranked for a particular term, you can find this in Google Webmaster Tools.

I use seobook rank checker, market samurai, and the free version of traffic travis. These tools help me to find out more information about the market I'm in as well as check out my website's stats and rankings.
