Oh my God! That is really horrible! I am not using my yahoo mail few months ago because of many spam mails. Google is very much better than yahoo.

Sorry to hear that. The thing is, I use different accounts for different sites and purposes like paypal. I don't use the email for my paypal in order to send private messages. This way, I will have lesser chance of having spam mails.

Yahoo isn't a good company, try using others products, gmail is pretty decent.

I will go with you bro. Before opening an unknown file we should observe it first very carefully.

Mate you just had a bad luck, I check everytime where my incoming emails come from. As I can see you received this message from Chile (via local ADSL provider) and Yahoo has to pickup these type of messages because of the nature of the email.

Well, Yahoo failed. Something new? Nope.

    its not all yahoo's fault
i don't use yahoo but its not too bad to give stars (abuse) in emails
if you are so worried about security than you might have installed a OS that is not so vulnerable to viruses like you can get a macbook or install some GUI unix environment on your hardware
you should also have migrated your work from yahoo to gmail

Its so sad that this happened to you, it also depends on the kind of antivirus you are using.

It is pretty rare to meet this kind of situation, I do think it is better to use some specially customized EMail for serious business.

A long proof list that the security condition of yahoo is worst!! Still thousands of people using their mail services, because these proofs were not disbursed properly. Though recently yahoo had made some changes and made the mail more secure than previous time.

I'ev been using Yahoo for about 10 years too and the most astonishing part in your story is that THEY ACTUALLY REPLIED!!!
I've never had problems with viruses (but then again i'm suspicious even of people I know). Unless I'm 100% sure what the attachment is, I tend to call people to confirm they are sending me an attachment before I open it. That's not likely to work for everyone, i know.

    I'm sorry for your headache.
