How to create site maps and change them?

Hello!! I have a site for which i need to change the sitemap. Could anyone tell me how do i do it? and would that help in improving the chances of my site getting indexed more frequently?

you should install Google XML Sitemaps plugins its free one. it will create xml sitemap automatically.

If your site has less than 500 pages then xml sitemap plugin is useful but if your site has more than 500 pages then xsitemap.com is the best site to generate free sitemap. After generating sitemap you have to edit it and change the priority of your main pages.

Hi,

lets assume that your site have more than 500 pages. So, open xsitemap.com, add your website name and set priority of all pages by 0.5 and start generatting sitemap. After downloading the sitemap, open it with dreamweaver or any other xml software and change the priority for home page by 1.0 and other main categories by 0.9 or 0.8 whatever you want then save it and finally upload it on the server and submit it into webmaster tools.

Yes,

I think google xml sitemap generates for only those sites which has less than 500 pages. If you want to generate more than that, then you have to pay them.

ketpr set up a Google webmasters account if you haven't already, then go to this site http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ and it will create a new sitemap for you, then upload it to website root folder and call it something like sitemap1 and then go to your webmaster account and put in the location of this sitemap.

To update it, just create a new sitemap and upload it again then update it in google.

 

If we download Google xml sitemap then, how we add sitemap? Is this create automatically or we do some steps for it? I am newbie in this please help me.

 

It is good to make your XML sitemap through the Google xml sitemap..
Upload it to your site and have a good results for your findings in the SE.
