All the directories in my sig have a special category for "blogs", most of the directories out there (60-65% of them) have a blog or weblogs category also.

Well, if there is a category blog in the health section why not! But i don't know about other directory owners, my guideline prohibit submissions of blogs or directories under general categories for websites. If you want to submit your blog, forum, directory there are categories for that :p

I don't accept subdomain blogs unless paid for in featured. They must be submitted to the Blogs section of the directory too.

A blog is just a different CMS system, there should be no discrimination :)

I agree. We accept blogs in general categories as long as they comply with general submission guidelines, and their content fit the category where they were submitted.

And what is the difference between blog and website?

Is it blog software or something else?

Agree 100%! Most directories have a main category for blogs, with sub categories. Where did the "D" word come into this thread anyway? I don't think it's too much to ask that blog owners use an appropriate sub category within a general blog category.

My question as a directory owner is why would a blog owner not want their blog in a directory category that matches their web site? As for if it would be refused if submitted elsewhere in my directory?... I might move it, or I might refuse it. That is the beauty of being the owner of anything.. The choice is mine.

The question is, why a health blog belong to to blog category but not health category?

As someone already mentioned, blogging is another type of content management "style" (listing content in reverse chronological order). Many webmaters nowadays publish/manage their web site content/articles in blogging-style as SEs love the way blog content is updated.

That said, my opinion as a directory owner is that directory needs to categorize web sites based on their "content," not their "style." So I wouldn't require them to submit blogs to blog category.

Anyway, each directory has their own policy. Nothing that can be enforced Internet wide... :)

A blog to me is looked up on just the same as any other site that i review, as long as it's submitted to the correct category that the content is related to & follows my guidelines then it will get approved by me...

I accept blog sites on my directory.

I think many folks hesitate listing the freely hosted ones for the obvious reasons.

I do however think that blog sites should be listed by thier topic, not under a generic category of blogs; unless the blog category is a sub or sub-sub category. Same for directories.

I agree with romow, category taxonomies should be divided on content lines and not website structure.
