Hello, I've had massive loss in keyword rankings for a site which I haven't done any keyword stuffing and very little linkbuilding to: http://www.wpblogtalk.com/ But the funny thing is I've not only lost rankings on Google within the last two days. I've also lost rankings on all search engines. If you search for a title of a recent blog post: "How To Install WordPress Manually and Why You Should" it doesn't come up with the site in DuckDuckGo. Whereas if you search for the site name "wpblogtalk" it doesn't even come up on the first page of Google but is rightly the first result in DuckDuckGo. I find this bemusing to say the least.
Firstly relax, you are not alone. Your site is not de-indexed, if you type "wpblogtalk.com" in Google, you can see your site's pages. Google rolled out whats named as 'penguin' update this week which caused panic all over the world. For many keywords, the 1st site turns out to be an autoblog or an under construction/rubbish site. Let the dust settle . P.S. - It seems the era of negative SEO guys is going to start. I have 3 of my client sites vanish from page 1 for a heavily competitive keyword, they were nowhere in top 100 yesterday, today they seem to be in top 50. 1 of the sites was on page 1 in the noon and not in top 100 by the evening. Another site was on spot 12 at about 10.00AM today, spot 18 at about 10.15AM and by 3.00PM its on spot 19.
You are not alone. A lot of people got it too. It a update by google on 24th. A ton of people got hit. Just google it and im sure you'll find it.
Thank you for your calming words. I appreciate that Google has gone really over-the-top initially to frighten everyone and things will start returning to something resembling how they were before soon. However, I don't understand why the site seems to be doing so appallingly on other search engines. Although I don't have the info on how I was doing previously as I've only really kept an eye on Google. Either way, the way this site is performing at the moment – it would be better if it had no backlinks at all. Very weird.
Hi Robcub, Google has recently roll out its new algorithm update - 'Penguin'. It is against overly optimized sites. Things are changing quickly in last couple of days...wait for some more time so that people can put more light on it.
I also suggest that you wait for the dust to settle a bit. A lot of search engine results look pretty weird when judging with the Google guidelines. I am almost certain that Google will not let the SERPs remain like that. They probably are going to adjust the algorithm again. At least I hope so. There are approximately more than 700,000 search queries and more than one million websites affected by this penguin update. A lot of quality sites have lost their top positions. If your rankings may not return, you can send a feedback to the Google team via https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEVxdmdRWFJRTjRoLWZVTHZkaTBQbkE6MQ&ifq This link has been posted by Matt Cutts on Twitter. Hope this helps.
It is not Google slap, they have changed their algorithm, give some time you will get your ranking back but you can do it quickly if add our website to Google webmaster, submit your sitemap and do a reconsideration than Google might lift the plenty if you have any plenty..I hope this helps..
Googles updates often screw over the right websites and promote the ones their trying to get rid of. Oh what a world... Keep at it and you'll see your rankings change
Ok...so there is still hope One of my websites more than recovered from the Google slap. Will wait for the others to follow...
I think just wait until Google gives some instructions for optimizing for penguin update. Many site suffered from this.
Yes, one of my popular websites is affected with this effect. However there is no change in PR or page index. But i have lost all rankings. Now what to do? Any suggestions? We have to wait and watch or need to do some serious action??
Yeah same matter with me. i lost almost all my keywords in last week. but how can we avoid this? Please anybody tells me.
