Yesterday, Google announced on its blog that they have updated their search algorithm few days ago. The update was focused on overly optimized sites.

Approximately 3 percent of the total search queries have been affected with this update.

Matt Cutt also added in its blog post that they will again update their search algorithm in the coming days.

It hasn't gone to plan, a significantly larger number than 3% of searches have been affected. Search results for a large number of keywords are displaying different results by the hour.

In fact, most page 1 results now show at least some landing pages, blogs with spun content etc. Furthermore, EMD's along with brand domains have been hit pretty hard.

Expect plenty more tweaks over the next 2-3 days before things stop bouncing around.

It is always advisable and ethical to use white hat optimization techniques only. May be in very short span of time it won't give you result but on a long run you'll keep building your site with high traffic all the time leading to max profit.

I think lots of people have to rethink their SEO strategy. Some Black HAt or lets say Grey Hat technics can hurt your Ranking if Google finds out. And that what just happend.
Linkbuilding and Keywords are some of the main issues. If you get to many links in a short time with the same keyword seems to be unaturally. Until now it worked out fine like this, eventhough the said don't do it in their guidelines. And now some pages have drops of 70% in visitors.
Also low quality sites with poor autogenerated content have lost significally. But user generated content like forums have gained.

Yeah, all the major SEO experts are shouting at the search results of the Google. Spam websites are still ranking on page one.

Truly said, buddy! No options left. :(
Websites that were involved in malicious link exchange or/and were following black hat seo technique like keyword stuffing were largely hit from this update.
