same here dear, because, google has major update today about over optimization or so many black hat seo.
it is may done because of changing in Google algorithm and indexing updation. keyword will be automatically appear in the same position but link building should not be stopped.
how can you say, link building should not be stopped because all sites has gone which are doing over optimization. so i think, some days, link building should stopped. if i am wrong, then please suggest. i also upset today.

See according to google updates it tracks the records of your active session other than your link building now a days, so instead of building more links do it in a limited way and active in forums and blogs commenting so it will shows your activeness. I will suggest you give your more time in social sites it will shows your presence to search engines. Everything it get tracked by the webmaster tools.if you follow the above steps your ranking will be in first place of search engine.
