    Depends. In is obviously that the high pR backlinks are the most efficient. But there are also the .edu and .gov backlinks.

    well I agree with all guys replied but I think High Authority Backlinks will make some difference in the PR update. So it might be most beneficial.

    A link from high PR, related site will give u good credibility for your website. It is more advantageous if the high PR site links only few.
    It'll be be sharing its credibility to all those linked to it. If less websites are linked, then sharing of its credibility is also less, so u get more share.
    Social sites plays vital role in this aspect.

    A link from authority/high pr site is surely beneficial for our site. most of authority and high pr site give a dofollow backlinks and dofollow backlinks are beneficial to increase our website ranking. so always try to submit your site in authority and high pr sites for quality backlinks.

    As someone said, a link is a link. But the key is the relevance.
    Of course, a dofollow backlink from a high authority website, also with relevance, is more efficient, since you're also getting link juice.
    Regarding the backlink type, I suppose .edu and .gov are the most powerful. And the second, I believe, article marketing and social bookmarks.
