Kaspersky Internet Security, however it's not free and needs a good spec to work with without hanging the system.

Hello everyone! I was using so many antivirus systems. I did not like them all. They had some disadvantages. But recently I have tried ESET NOD32. It’ really cool thing. I like it so much! It protects your computer on 100%! I would recommend it for you! You will be positively surprised!

    go for kaspersky.

Not everything that is free is good. Commercial products have hundreds of staff, that all they do is work to catch viruses and can make regular updates to the software. I am highly skeptical of any free antivirus that is truely as good as commercial products.

End of the day, no matter how good your antivirus is, if your hanging out on warez sites, or downloading "free" stuff off the net then your gonna get infected. Keep your computer clean in the first place by avoiding sites that arent necessarily respectable in the first place, and when something is free (like an antivirus) dont download it otherwise you will get infected.
I do use free software myself, as i use linux, and with linux there is a system that allows you to download linux software that is guaranteed to not be infected and to be compliant with your specific linux OS.

If you have Genuine Windows, Security essentials is the most powerful and light weight solution in Windows platform. Otherwise, I vote for Kaspersky.

For me there is no need to buy those expensive AVs... I am using free AVs and I found avast as the best so far for free category. On my windows computer, its almost 3 years and never had a problem with computer virus. The key to stay safe is avoid visiting websites such as porn*(sorry to the porn community) unless you know it's safe, and avoid downloading cracked software. Use webRep to detect websites with malware.

Microsoft Security Essentials because it also runs on windows xp sp3 with 512MB ram where other antivirus can't.
