Wanting to use my .com address for my blog?

Discussion in 'WordPress' started by routinehabit, Mar 24, 2012.

When I first started my wordpress blog, my home page of my blog was called http://routinehabit.com/blog. I was mucking around and opened a website at my server and called it routinehabit.com. I've tried deleting it so I can use the .com for my blog, but I must not have got rid of all the files cause I still can't use my .com address. Any suggestions would be great.

Do you have full control on routinehabit.com domain and hosting? For those who have full control, it should not be a difficult task to solve the problem.

Currently it is redirect to routinehabit.com/blog, are you the one who set the redirection? If yes, you can disable to redirect.

What is the error you get when you try to got rid of those files?

Hi yes I'm the owner of all the site, and I set up the re-direct. I haven't disabled the re-direct at this stage. I guess if I try that and see if there is an error I'll let you know. If nothing comes up once I've disabled the re-direct will that mean I can use the .com part of my address for the home page of my blog?

It is still redirecting to http://routinehabit.com/blog/ right now.

If you want to use routinehabit.com as home blog you must install Wordpress in the web root folder (public_html).

If it's already installed in the web root folder (public_html), make sure in your Wordpress General Setting "Site Address (URL)" point to http://routinehabit.com

Hi I cancelled the redirect, and then the old site, that only has the one page, came back up again. So I redirected it again.
So let me get this right.
Through ftp i'll install Wordpress in the web root folder, (public_html)

But before I do that, I need to delete the http://routinehabit.com from where ever it is in my files. It was a website not built with wordpress. So once I can find it and delete it, then install wordpress in the web root folder (public_html). I'll cancel the redirect so you can see what I mean about the site.
