It is duplicate meta tag or not ?

    Hi, All my recent project website change from asp to aspx. I already redirect all asp pages to aspx but the meta tag is same on both, So i want to know that i need to change the meta tag or not.


    Google webmaster tool show this is as a duplicate meta tag.

    they actually are. but they play minimal to no role at all in the rankings. That happens to one of my 2 language sites, they have duplicate meta keywords for every single blog post (because of the plugin i use) but that is almost irrelevant to the ranking, google does not pay much attention to meta keywords now!

    If you get changes in your site or revamp certain site. Better to chnge metas in order to get more accent on Google crawlers.

    Redirect should do the job but make sure you don't have pages with duplicate contents.

    Meta tags used to be extremely important in SEO but in the last couple of years, the importance has dwindled to almost none. My opinion ofcourse...

    if the conent is same on both websites its duplicate content you should know.once your content get cashed you can not use it in other page...

    Don't put the same meta tag in every page you need to specify different keyword for different page with different discription. avoid duplicate data and meta tag.

    You don't need to worry about that. When you redirect your old URI to new one, it means all the things on your webpage will also redirected. And in simple language, Google won't consider it duplicate, neither your content nor your any meta tags. Although, you must strongly check if your website has duplicate pages or not. If there are duplicate pages, then resolve this issue either by 301 redirection or by canonicalization.
