basically what i did is i removed the website link feature from my comments section.
and i change the name written(mostly keywords) the name on email id.

i dont use any spam plugin but instead i use the spam comments for my benefit

i knw its a heart breaking for those who do blog commenting.
but you should understand how it feels when someone see his website is filled with comment spam.

Simple, enable comment moderation. Comments don't appear unless you moderate and accept them.
This could be hefty because you cant monitor each and every comment.

So, I guess you can use third party Applications like Disqus, which will allow you to track the comments and the commenters. I guess you can also "ban" commenters.
    Not quite sure, though.

you gotta moderate those comment manually, the anti-spammer software is still not 100% work for you
if you are lazy to moderate comment, just disable the comment

A creative strategy, mate. Who cares if it's heart breaking for the bots (or the black hatters who believe they are white hat just because they are "doing it manually"). :-D

At the moment I do nothing with them as Antispam Bee (a Wordpress plugin) disposes of them automatically.

I don't want to disable comments because every once in a while I get very useful comments. I have gotten a some guest blogging requests for me to guess blog and gotten link exchanges. Comments are very useful but the moderation takes time and quite frankly when I see repeat postings I just trash... I do see the need to moderate the comments because of the useful comments that appear. I guess you have got to live with the spammers. Honestly, have they nothing else to do, because I certainly do...

you will never get rid of these. I guess just use some anti spam plugins to help you get rid of them and don't forget to add nofollow on links.

Comment spam will be around for as long as SEO experts (yeah right) on DP keep suggesting that blog comments are useful for building backlinks, have a look on this forum at the number of idiots that preach blog commenting as a form of link building and SEO... this forum is rife with it... it's funny to see a thread like this and then a few posts down you are guaranteed to see idiots suggesting the practice to others... and I keep the majority, I delete the links and blatant spam - but use the rest for activity on my posts... I even name and shame the spammers - by posting their email addresses, I.P addresses or simply mock them...

@thsadmin, lol, how true! And the ones doing it on DP think it's "white hat" and "ethical" because they are doing it manually. Too lazy to use a search engine to find some good guides for SEO.

you could delete the comment, but if it is a good comment with a bad anchor text, then just change the anchor text to a real name so that it looks like people have been commenting on your website, instead of automatic software posting comments. If you don't use some like Askimet, then you will have to delete the comments directly
