    I never place amazon affiliate links on sidebar,.. but I use contextual back links and it works,.. :D

    yes,..
    I usually add 4 - 7 times amazon aff-links on product review with "product name" as anchor-text,
    don't forget to add nofollow tag on every aff-links :D
