Photoshop CS is loading very hard

Today when I wanted to open Photoshop for editing some pictures I waited over 1 minute to actually can work, and it started to block, and don't respond.

Why ?

 

Restart your system..That often solves such problems I always do like that...

But does it happen for the first time?

 

I restarted twice, and the same problem.

Yes .. there was for the first time ( I've not used him for about 1 week ), and now it happens over and over again.Now I can't even open it ... it take to much time to load.

if you are using cracked version it is likely some files are corrupted

is this Photoshop CS or CS2? I've given up on CS2 as it's very hungry for resources. My rig is only a 3Ghz Athlon with 1G mem and still, PS/AI CS2 loads so slow.

Im using CS at the moment and loads like a notepad. I open 100+ photos from 5Megapixel camera files with no problem. You might also want to unload fonts and plugins as they take up memory space.

I use extensis suitcase to organize my 30k fonts (LOL). Although I am saving for a 64bit system and a CS2 installer for next year.

 

Yeah, the fonts are the big killer. Photoshop ran fine for me until I installed a massive amount of fonts. Now it's slow and unresponsive.

 

jquindlen : man, invest on a font organizer. It really helps. Although I would recommend extensis suitcase for the ps/flash user. just drag your fonts in the manage panel and you can set them as installed or not. Also gives you a lorem ipsum, alphanumeric and custom par on each font.

 

I think the fonts are my problems.A few days ago I've pasted 300 MB of fonts in windows/fonts directory.Now how I remove them ? Because I don't know witch one are used by windows.

 

Installing too many fonts do increase down the photoshop response time...I install only those that I usually use...But if there is any font organizer as jayL has said, I would like to know if that helps in response time.

1.6 Ghz Pentium 4, 512 DDR. At any given time I have about 24 IE windows open, iTunes, Photoshop, FileZilla, Word, McAfee, AIM, etc. etc.

 

My lappy is more horrible then yours lol 1.5 GHz celeronM, 256 DDR2 and still you can see photoshop CS2 active most of the time apart from the Firefox and all..

How do I remove the fonts that I don't need and don't use ? I don't know what are the basic fonts, and I don't want to make some kind of mistake.

 

necro : simple! Select all fonts, and unselect all the default windows fonts. A list can be found on google. Just search "default windows fonts" and you're good to go.

bnts : it helps more on the load side. Remember that fonts are preloaded when you run the adobe engine. I work as a freelance photo cleaner and loading tons of images at the same time is my normal routine.

If you want a faster response, use pixel dubbling. It lowers the geeking preview so when you move a layer element, it's not fully loaded on your canvas unless you stop.

Photoshop is resource hungry, you better have a very minimum of 512mb RAM, besides fonts maybe other plugins like brushes could possibly cause it to load slower.

 

Yes exactly seems like these days a system normally requires atleast 512 MB of RAM I am soon to upgrade my lappy anyway

 

Me also. sometime Photoshop load so slow.. and as backup, when i finished any project i immediately save in my drive. if i dont, when phostoshop stuck, my data will be lose..
