He's just updated the site to say that he's closing it down pending legal advice, and he's refunding all the advertisers in the top spots, effectively leaving himself $20k out of pocket!!

Check out his blog post here.

It's such a shame because he's a really nice chap, and the idea had such great potential!!

I hope you manage to sort out all the issues and get the ball rolling again Tadashi!! You deserve to profit from your idea, not all these lame imitators that have sprung up!

Hey Tadashi. Why don't you put a donate button on the blog and tell people that they'll get a free link on the blog page for any donations they give to cover the costs. Your site will still be getting a bunch of traffic and once the PR update kicks in there will be sufficient PR on your pages to give any donators a valueable link. Just a small piece of advice to help you cut your losses.

It's very sad to see that his site ended this way. A donations page is a very good idea.

I'll refund my refunds. If we all do that, we're back at square one with only PayPal laughing and all of us a lot wiser!

I don't get why he closed the site in the first place (a few weeks ago)...Surely that is what sparked the legal threats as noone was able to buy the top spots so naturally those at the top got pissed.

Its ironic that all the copycats are going to be the ones making money..Even if it is only a couple hundred

Pioneers often take the shit, it's a shame indeed. Shoulda woulda coulda paid out only after 10/14/30 day cool-off period. That's the #1 lesson here IMO.

I though the T&C's where quite clear - I dont get why he would refund any of complainers money - How stupid do you have to be, to not understand the risks.

At this point my project is going far beyond the ads on the front page.

Also, since at most I pay 50% of the value of a purchased spot to adjacent ones, the risk isn't that high regarding frauds. Of course I don't want that but for now it's ok.

I see lot of reserved blocks on your site. These have been there for long time...don't you think its blocking someone else interested in the same block?

"Reserved" spots are spots already sold. I should change it to "sold" instead.

How very sad :( It's very depressing to see initiative and a bright idea turn out like this.

Hang on in there Tadashi, you obviously have bucketloads of talent. Just remember you will never lose that.

    1. Fist impression is that the website is very well planned and organized
    2. Concept is absolutely clear
    3. Everything is up to the standards of a profession website.

But it also clear looks that you used all the previous recommendation wisely! :) Good job!

Wow... that's a tough break for Tadashi, I wonder was it because he used the line 'advertise on mmmzr and get twice your money back' in his header. I doubt any court in the world would deny that a tagline like that is neither false nor misleading. He'll bounce back though, one good idea always leads to another and I wouldn't be surprised to see him back here soon with something bigger and better (and more legally compliant!!)

    Best of luck Tadashi

The problem was not so much with the business model as much of the state of payment processing for goods that are not physically delivered. It's too easy for someone to chargeback (rightfully or not).

It's just like people who gamble online and then only chargeback if they lose.

very dark and large header..i will suggest you to opt for wordpress blog..there you wont have to deal with web designing and all..so you can just concentrate on selling you products and arrange them in a better way..
