article marketing purpose, explanation please

    scenario: I have a website selling 'motocross boots'

    if i write an article about motocross boots ie, 'they're advantages' and post it on Squidoo, how will this benefit my website and it's authority from google's point of view.

    Also, how would one use anchor text in the article.. which keyword would need to be targeted for optimum optimization, 'motocross boots' or 'advantages of motocross boots'

    From my point of view I think surely targeting 'motocross boots' would bring the most authority yes?

    A brief explanation would be great, thanks!

    just writing an article and posting it on squidoo will not benefit you much. squidoo used to be real good in terms if passing link juice as well as getting the lens itself ranked high on google. but thats like 3 years ago. squidoo not only has tough editorial policy now, link from just one lens would not do anything for getting your site ranked. you need to craft a well diversified link building campaign and run it for some time before you can get any ranking increase and traffic

    Article marketing has lost its potency.
    1) Submitting an article to a dofollow directory gets you a backlink.
    2) Rolling the same article on multiple directories will do you no good. What’s ultimately gonna happen is...only a copy of article will appear in search results and rest be labelled as duplicate. Please don’t expect any fireworks outta article marketing. It is passe, try something better like blogging or guest posting...

    I agree with what you are all saying but, if you write top content google will reward you,

    Squidoo - I have had great results from here and always quite quickly

    If you write quality content and bookmark your articles I believe they can be a great way to get a backlink, and be rewarded from Google. To be honest when I post I don't even check if it's do follow because, it can drive traffic either way, and google will think its spam if all links are dofollow links, so nofollow links can be good for you aswell...

    Squidoo is one way to go I think you could get a lot of exposure there which leads to traffic but afaik it would be hard to get link benefit now from squidoo if that is what you are looking for you could look to guest blog on someone else's blog or submit the article to a well known article directory.
