Hi, I removed the background for my site's logo and when I tried to save it as .jpg the white background came back. Apparently jpg doesn't support transparency..or does it ?
save it as .tif This format supports transparency (to note at preservation "transparency to background")
PNG has by far the best quality and also supports transparency. I recommend you save all your images at .png!
Transparent jpg is only supported by a very small number of programs (photoshop not being one) Go with png if you intend to use the file in printwork or on the web. You will lose too much quality with gif and psd and tif aren't usable in browsers.
Both gif and PNG8 handle 1bit alpha channel ( the pixel is transparent or not ) and PNG24 has 8bit alpha channel what means that each pixel might have one of 256 levels of transparency. All the formats are supported by Photoshop
Hello. You are right. In your case jpg doesn't support transparency. So, I want to advise you to use png or tif. These formats support transparency for sure. So, use them. They work great!
