Awstats question, need to know b4 I buy or sell more

I have been basing some sites on their awstats information a certain way I think may be incorrect. When you look at awstats it gives you visits, unique visits, pages, hits, and bandwidth.

I was under the thinking that pages was represented pageviews or the total number of pages that were shown. ex. 50 people visit and look at 3 different pages= 150 pages. But now I think that it may be that that would be the number of visits was 150 and unique visits was 50. What then is the definition of pages? and while Im at it what is the definition of a hit? (ive never known that one).

Was I wrong in thinking that if a site had 1600 pages/day that if ads were on every page ads would recieve 1600 impressions or would they recieve the amount of impressions as visits (not unique visits)?

-I know this may seem like a newb question or not belonging in this subforum but it is verymuch pertinent to buy and selling of sites. (it also deals with a few sites I am buying now, I want to make sure im not paying way too much.

unique visitors = a unique visitor
visits = total visits (all visits unique or not)
pages = all pageviews (all the sites visits [see above] and the total number of pages viewed)
hits = things that load on a page (pictures, etc)

A unique visitor counts as one person visiting the site. Can include returning visitors for once a day. Visits is everyone who visits your site within the day. If they come back like 5 times a day. It counts as 5 visits. Hits are for the amount of files requested from a visitor to a server.

One thing to watch out for with AWStats is that linked files, such as cursors etc, can show up as uniques. So be wary when looking at traffic stats, particularly for Myspace sites. Always compare the uniques/visits/pageviews with Google Adsense stats (which shows impressions). If AW is much higher than Adsense, you know it's not showing a true story.
