A lot of people think it's just as simple as throwing backlinks at a site and that's it. It's a little bit more complicated than that. You can only trick the search engines for so long before you get slapped.

 

the color of your hat is irrelevant. It's what you keep underneath it that matters.

 

Black & White hat are very similar, if you make good techniques and you respect all the things like link velocity and building nofollow and do follow links you can go straight ahead to ranking your website with any method you know.

 

I agree Zack, but I don't have the time (most people don't) to do it manually and wait and wait and wait. That's just not the world we live in. I would rather be gray hat if necessary. Whatever gets the job done. I don't do a lot of it.

Do you use software and if so, which one?

 

I would consider black hat to be anything dealing with spammy links, content farms, and other resources to short cut for fast immediate results, link wheels, for ranking.

White hat is nothing, but nature way of organically growing your links.

James you are so wrong..... Blackhat is not always spammy, and content farms specially since panda (most BHT) are smart and know what they are doing. We all like shortcuts surely you do also? no?

According to my information White Hat SEO follow all the protocols set by Google but in Black Hat SEO does not follow rules and regulation set by Google in simple words we can say that Black Hat SEO Does not work according to Quality parameters.

I think it's all a little grey. Some people think that any software usage is considered black hat and swear by manual as white hat. The problem is time. Who is realistically going to sit there all day and build manually? I know I won't. And I'm not hiring a team of outsourcers to do it for me either.

You gotta use software. SeNukeX and maybe a few others. It's all about structure.

 

Lalita63, I generally agree with your definition. Blackhat is some not recommended methods someone can use in order to optimize its site ranking in organic search results. These methods are not natural and search engines (Google) can penalize a website. For instance there are numerous tools that can build thousands of backlinks with a click. This is a backhat method and you need to pay attention if you use it.
