If you are offering a writing service, it's a good idea to go ahead and create a portfolio with at least 3 samples of your work. Turn it into a PDF and this way, when you respond to an ad, you already have something to show in the way of your writing style.

Your skills are worth heaps of money if you can actually deliver.

I would say start your own online business -- make a website of you that talks about the services that you offer, and in it have the list of all the clients that you've worked with.

What you can do to secure your first clients (which will be then on your website as testimonials for future clients), is you can find them out through your friends or whatever, reach them with the message that as you're new to the market, you want to offer them your service without charging them upfront for it... and would only ask for payment after they're satisfied with the work.

Make sure to highlight why they need to work with you -- you get paid or not -- SEO etc have huge potential and they should know that they'll be missing out on a great opportunity.

Nobody denies a good service especially if they've to only pay after they've seen the results for themselves.

So yeah... that's what you should do.

Don't sell yourself short......don't give it all away for free, make sure you are charging and collecting some upfront.

 

If you can do SEO services, but can't make a website and make it optimized for search engine work than you are out of luck
