I have a domain with only one html page, is this bad for seo? would it be better to have many html pages instead?

There are a lot of one page websites. It's not necessarily bad for SEO, but if you're trying to rank for long-tail keywords, having multiple pages aimed at those keywords will help you.

No matter how many web pages a website have. But, make sure that your single page website have enough content for which your website is intended to.

That is funny. If you Google the word 'something', something.com comes up. This site has absolutely no value to anybody yet google ranks it number one for that word. Shows you how powerful domain name keywords are.

So true. Exact Match Domains have a significant power over other generic domains competing in the same niche.

It depends on how properly you have done your coding and SEO. Does it have meta keywords, a meta description, H1 tags, H2 tags, title tags, etc etc. You need to follow the same basic layout as everyone else does for SEO and then you'll be able to rank just as easily... as long as the crawlers can crawl your site.

Well having a site with multiple pages indicates you are striving for more than one keyword...so yeah of course for longtail keywords you'll have more than one page.

Number of pages is not important to rank in search engines. The necessary thing is the quality of content and proper on-page and off-page optimization. Always try to use unique, original and useful content for increasing your sites visibility.
