Im looking for the perfect platform for a website that im dreaming in my head. A friend suggested wordpress but curious what all your thoughts might be.Im wanting to start a local community sports website. The needs list below:

    1. Need to be able to have multiple authors of content, with limited capability or permissions.
    2. Need a forum integrated into wordpress
    3. The entire site needs to be able to integrate with facebook - to stop people from having to resign up for new accounts etc.
    4. Mobile users need to be able to view the site on smartphones and tablets
    5. Premium Theme based
    6. Are there any plugins that will let users sign for advertising, pay and immediately see the results of their work live ? Like google search engine does ?

Thanks and so curious your replies !

This is a natural function of WordPress, and there are plug ins to enhance this functionality with additional roles and permissions.
    http://simple-press.com/
    http://bbpress.org/
(but V-Bulletin is still the best forum software)
There are many, but here is one plug in: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-facebook-connect/
WordPress is mobile friendly naturally. But not all themes are. There are also plug ins to make your site mobile friendly.
    1000's of possibilities
No not like Google. That is a proprietary system that took many engineers and programmers years to perfect and run and just as many to administer it.

But there are ad management plug ins. Nothing that will let users create the ads on site. If your blog gets that popular where something like that isn't complete overkill, you'll be able to afford to have one built.

I'd recommend you go for WordPress. All the functionality your required can be done with WordPress with help from the myriad of available WordPress plugins. Premise WordPress Plugin might be something you'd be interested in, especially if you want to start a membership community or something.

There is a plugin for everything wordpress. if not outsource and get someone to build a custom plugin/s.
