I was wondering if anyone would like to share how much time and $$ it has taken them to reach a PR6+ ? (estimate) Im almost at a pr5 with one of my sites (hopefully next update) and it has been about a year with a $xxx dollars spent, so I was just wondering how I am doing comparing to all of you guys! Anyone else have any stats? Thanks. -Zack
Took me about a year and $0.00 (not counting time or hosting) to reach PR 5 with www.topwebsitetips.com. Still waiting for PR 6
If you want to have a higher PR, start writing in article directories. If your content is then syndicated you will get good backlinks, at least in theory.
infonote, im not asking how to get higher pagerank.. im just asking how long it has taken and how much $$$ if any has it taken to achieve a pagerank of 6+ .. thanks for the suggestion though.
http://livepr.raketforskning.com/ An excellent tool that shows the PR across almost all the Datacentres!
I think I might have once paid $5.00 for a directory, I don't remember if it was for this site or not. However I have done a lot more than just directories. Also link trades, press releases, article submission etc. But I prefer not to pay for links, May have to, to reach PR6 though, We'll find out....
I have one page that is at PR6 on site with a PR5 homepage. I didn't pay for anything. The page was just picked up by a social bookmarking service and did very well. If you create pages to target these types of sites a few times per year, you can get good PR without spending money. It isn't that the sites themselves give you much benefit, it is mostly from hundreds of bloggers picking up the link and linking to it.
nice. thats pretty sweet. First year I decided to spend money.. I guess it just takes less effort! lol.. but in year 2 I am going to strictly try without spending very much money at all! hopefully it works out. =) -Zack
It took me a few years (not sure how many) - just submitting to directories and private link-pages in my niche. I have also been very active in forums.
Why do you bother with PR ? More inportant are the Rankings (important and from there the $$$ and traffic comes)
The time and money you would have to spend will differ a lot according to what your website is about, the quality of your website and a few other things. I agree with w3bmaster, dont worry about PR and try getting your pages higher up on the SERP
Adholes.com took a year to hit PR6. It happened mostly from legit news orgs (Wall Street Journal writing about us. I think a few PR8 links will really get you up there quick. We also generate a ton of content from our userbase.
Yerp definatley, quality & relevant links are all that matters, if its high PR take it as an added bonus
I totally agree, but High PR = a pretty penny people will pay to put their link on your site... but yes.. Rankings is more important!
